It's a shame one has to use a terrible program just to access your files. The good news is, you don't! In most Samsung phones, all you have to do is drill down to the USB Debug mode and turn it on. Now you can access your pictures and stuff without Kies. There are several how to guides around Youtube and other tech sites.
